Location

The villa is only 20 minutes away from the Barcelona Airport and 8 minutes away from the beaches and the town centre of Sitges.

When driving from Barcelona in the direction of Taragona, you enter a green area: on your left you will find the varying Costa del Garraf, with beautiful rocks, sandy beaches and little villages. On you right hand you will soon see the hills that announce the start of the Alt Penedès region which includes the Natural Park del Garraf and the famous Penedès wine region. In the middle of the Penedès area, just ten minutes outside of Sitges, you will find our villa. Olivella is a small, authentic village situated in the middle of the Garraf, the beautiful Catalan Natural Park. Olivella is renown for its hills, its nature but also for its close access to Sitges and Barcelona. Well, what do we need to tell you about Barcelona? Are there still secrets to reveal on this city?

Sitges

Few places along Catalonia's southern coast are as emblematic as Sitges, a town that combines natural beauty, historical sites, cultural events, sport facilities and a notorious nightlife. Sitges regularly grabs the top spots on must-see lists and has therefore been chosen to host such illustrious events as the Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia and the february Carnaval which is celebrated big times in Sitges. It comes as no surprise that both celebrities and mere mortals flock to this pretty coastal town as it sports a picturesque appearance and an atmosphere that blends traditional charm with a cosmopolitan attitude.

The Garraf

The Garraf is the regino that starts south of Barcelona and which is situated along the coast. Together with the Alt and Baix Penedès regions, the Garraf forms a large part of the limestone Garraf massif (Natural Park), dotted with caves and potholes and rich in plant life (dwarf palm, kermes oak, giant reed, etc.), which falls sharply to the sea, forming a jagged coastline with high cliffs. The population is concentrated on the coastal plain, whose towns have long tourist traditions: Vilanova i la Geltrú (capital) and Sitges, as well as Olivella, Cubelles and Sant Pere de Ribes.

Penedès

The villa gives also direct access to the Penedès wine region. The area is framed by the coastal hills of the Garraf and the higher inland mountains. Considered one Spain’s best wine-producing regions after the Rioja, it is also one of the most ancient wine areas in Europe. The Penedès is perhaps better-known for its Cava production, the sparkling wine which has had its own Denominació d'Origen since 1991. White grape varieties predominate, although the region also produces some highly-regarded, oak-aged reds.
